Kaplan, Inc., a leading international provider of educational and career services for individuals, schools, and businesses, has launched a beta version of its KAPx™ online educational platform. The new Kaplan solution will offer state-of-the-art tools to enable schools and organizations to provide information and instruction to their students and audiences in the most innovative manner, capitalizing on learning techniques that have proven to be both effective and efficient towards achieving the educational goals of their participants.

The KAPx™ learning platform ( www.kapx.net) provides for student-instructor interaction with live feedback tools in an online “hangout” format, which can be used to engage participants across the country or around the world. KAPx™ is designed to promote student success and includes such features as allowing the presenter to remotely control the view that participants see in their course materials. The platform allows the presenter to webcast the sessions live, leveraging YouTube and Google+ Hangouts. It also permits participants to sign up in advance and allows the presenter to capture user data. Other functionalities include: real-time polling; question-and-answer sessions; and real-time chat between speakers and participants.

The platform also provides for immediate recording of video streams to enable replay to new audiences as well as download capability for the presenter to edit and create new learning content.

“The KAPx™ platform is designed to help schools, organizations, businesses, and individuals who want to share information and knowledge in an exciting, interactive, and highly participatory manner that is aligned with the best instructional practices,” said Edward Hanapole, Kaplan Inc.’s Chief Information Officer. “We will continue to refine the platform to reflect our leadership in learning science and how to marry technological innovation with educational achievement.”

KAPx™ is currently in beta testing and will be continuously updated with advanced functionality that helps encourage greater collaboration between presenters and participants.

Kaplan has provided online educational solutions to third parties for several years. Its online instructional delivery platforms have been used by both domestic and international institutions, including George Washington University (in Washington, D.C.) and the University of Adelaide (in Australia), among others.
