Symetra Rolls Out New Group Life And Disability Income Insurance Claims And Employee Leave Management Capabilities

Symetra Life Insurance Company today announced the formation of a new group life and disability income (DI) insurance claims team with advanced capabilities to provide integrated claims and absence management support to employers and their employees.

The dedicated claims team, based in Enfield, Conn. and led by Lora Lyons, is supported by a state-of-the-art, fully integrated system that administers life insurance claims, short- and long-term disability claims, and a wide range of state and federal employee leaves, including those related to the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), military duty, jury duty and sabbaticals.

These new in-house capabilities are part of Symetra’s ongoing initiative to expand its group life and DI business.

“Over the past year, we have built the internal team and systems to deliver full-service life insurance claims and disability management for employers,” said Tom Foran, vice president of Symetra’s Group Life and DI business. “With the increasing complexity of state and federal regulations, many companies are looking to outsource employee leave management. Symetra’s professionally managed leave program is designed for groups with more than 200 employees. Employers receive a single, consolidated report covering all the employee leaves for their company — not separate reports for each type of leave. Employers also receive advance warning of changes in the law should they need to adjust their internal processes. The Symetra program continually monitors leave-related laws in all 50 states to ensure compliance.
