(NYSE: MOH) today announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Molina Healthcare of Florida, has executed a contract with the Florida Department of Elder Affairs (DOEA) to participate in the Nursing Home Diversion (NHD) program. Molina Healthcare will now provide home and community-based services in lieu of nursing home placement for beneficiaries who are eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid in Pinellas and Hillsborough, Florida. The NHD program is sponsored by Molina Healthcare of Florida and the State of Florida, Department of Elder Affairs. “We are pleased to finalize our contract with DOEA. We think that Floridians who need home and community-based services will benefit from our coordinated care model,” said David Pollack, president of Molina Healthcare of Florida. “Our model helps keep individuals in their own home and functioning at the highest level possible. A key part of this new program will be leveraging our partnerships with community organizations and agencies in order to ensure beneficiaries receive the right medical services, at the right time in the right setting when they need them. “Participating in the NHD program is an important first step toward building an infrastructure of quality managed health plans to help care for the growing number of long term care beneficiaries as the nation’s population ages,” said Pollack.
