Schwab Performance Technologies® (SPT), a subsidiary of The Charles Schwab Corporation and a leading provider of technology solutions for independent investment advisors, announced today that the company is building a hosted version of its flagship portfolio management software for independent investment advisors. PortfolioCenter ® Hosted is being developed in response to advisors’ growing interest in cloud-based technology and to address the common challenges that many advisors face when maintaining software in their firm. “Advisors want to run their businesses, not their servers,” said Brian Shenson, vice president of advisor technology solutions for Charles Schwab. “From our work with the 3,800 firms that use SPT’s products, we see many advisors looking to decrease time spent on technology infrastructure tasks like software updates and database backups, but who still want to control their own data and customize their client experience. PortfolioCenter Hosted will also help meet the increasing need for anytime, anywhere access to portfolio management data.” SPT is also continuing to make enhancements to the desktop software version of PortfolioCenter, including an upcoming release that will focus on improved ease of use for back-office staff and enhanced billing statements for client presentations. Schwab Performance Technologies to Expand its Role in Schwab Intelligent Integration As part of the Schwab Intelligent Integration™ initiative, SPT also announces today that the company will integrate its portfolio management systems, including outsourced performance reporting solution, PortfolioServices and the forthcoming PortfolioCenter Hosted, with Schwab OpenView Gateway™ (Gateway). Gateway is the modular platform that facilitates data integration between Schwab Advisor Services™ and third-party technology providers. SPT’s involvement will allow Gateway participants to integrate multi-custodial data and portfolio performance within the client relationship management (CRM) system, allowing advisors to have a more robust view of their clients’ total financial picture. SPT is also rolling out enhancements to its turnkey Schwab OpenView Integrated Office™ (Integrated Office) product, including the addition of embedded workflows from the Schwab OpenView Workflow Library™ for client prospecting and onboarding activities. The addition of these workflows will provide significant benefits and time savings for advisors, helping them automate tasks and centralize business development information. There will be additional updates made to Integrated Office later in the year, including document management support and an end-client portal.
“We are getting a lot of interest in Integrated Office among advisors who are just starting out as independent firms,” said Shenson. “Business development for these firms is a top priority, so we built supporting workflows into the platform so advisors can get the benefits without having to manually key in multiple workflows.”About Schwab Performance Technologies Founded in 1985, Schwab Performance Technologies® (SPT) is a subsidiary of The Charles Schwab Corporation and a leading provider of portfolio management and accounting solutions to approximately 3,800 independent financial advisors and investment managers.
