DTS, Inc. (Nasdaq:DTSI), a leader in high-definition audio, today announced a collaboration with Yulong, a supplier of high-end smartphones in China, to integrate DTS Envelo™ into its Coolpad™ 7728 smartphone for wireless operator China Unicom. DTS Envelo elevates the device’s audio capabilities, delivering sound with increased depth and dimensionality to better serve China Unicom’s mobile subscribers. “As a professional provider of integrated solutions for smartphones, we’re constantly working to evolve our product and service offerings, and to provide customers with the best available technologies,” noted Mr. Chengli, brand director at Yulong. “DTS’ world-recognized and internationally prevalent audio enhancement technologies support our position as a global leader of dual-mode mobile phones, and we’re confident that this agreement will further differentiate the Coolpad 7728 from other products, increasing the appeal by offering a clearer, more brilliant sound experience.” DTS Envelo enhances the audio platform with pristine vocals, and more defined musical instruments that envelop the consumer in a rich, immersive sound scape. The technology works with the Coolpad’s Android 4.0 operating system, high-speed dual core 1.0 GHz, 4.0-inch IPS display screen and dual standby to widen the sound delivery with crisp, brilliant high frequencies coupled with dramatic and high-impact low frequencies. “We are pleased to join forces with a forward-thinking company like Yulong and to help our partner differentiate their product offering with the addition of DTS’ premium audio solution. Recent figures from Canalys show that China represented 22 percent of global smartphone shipments in the first quarter of 2012, while the Asia-Pacific region recorded a remarkable annual growth of 81 percent, which reflects a dynamic marketplace,” said Roy Law, President of DTS Greater China Region. “Yulong is one of the top local smartphone players in China, and the Coolpad 7728 represents its high-end offering. This is a time of striking mobile growth in this region and the Coolpad 7728 offers the highest-quality mobile surround sound to consumers.” Yulong recently unveiled the Coolpad 7728 at a launch event at the China Unicom headquarters in Beijing, China. The event showcased the phone’s virtual surround sound technologies as well as high quality DTS Blu-ray Disc and Compact Disc content in order to demonstrate DTS’ high end audio technologies in the home theater and mobile industries.
Investors considering a purchase of DTS Inc shares, but tentative about paying the going market price of $30.03/share, might benefit from considering selling puts among the alternative strategies at their disposal. One interesting put contract in particular, is the June put at the $25 strike, which has a bid at the time of this writing of $1.05.
