Advantest Corporation (TSE: 6857, NYSE: ATE), the global leader in semiconductor test equipment, today announced that results of the annual VLSI Research Customer Satisfaction Survey identify the company as THE BEST supplier of test equipment according to global customer ratings. The company has also achieved a top spot on the overall 10 BEST suppliers list for large suppliers of chip making equipment.

Advantest received its highest rating in the category of “ trust in supplier.” Specific areas in which Advantest customers expressed the greatest degree of satisfaction with the company’s performance included “technical leadership,” “product performance,” “quality of results” and “uptime.” The ratings were supported by comments that point to the company’s reliable, high-efficiency, high-precision systems that have become the de-facto standard in the industry.

For 24 consecutive years, Advantest has been rated one of the world’s top semiconductor equipment suppliers, according to the time-honored survey conducted by leading industry-analyst firm, VLSIresearch Inc (Santa Clara, Calif.). The customer satisfaction survey collected feedback from more than 99% of the worldwide chip market. Participants were asked to rate equipment suppliers among fifteen categories based on three key factors: supplier performance, customer service, and product performance. The annual VLSIresearch Customer Satisfaction Survey on Chip Making Equipment is the only publicly available opportunity for chip manufacturers to provide feedback on their suppliers.

“Making the 10 BEST list each year since its inception is an impressive distinction,” said G. Dan Hutcheson, CEO of VLSI Research. “In a year that presented challenges including catastrophic natural disasters in its home country, and the acquisition of a major competitor, the company never lost sight of its customer-focused approach to business. Achieving recognition as THE BEST supplier of test equipment in 2012 is a testament to Advantest’s commitment to delivering high-quality products, and further evidence of their technical leadership and management fortitude.”

R. Keith Lee, president and CEO of Advantest America, Inc., noted, “Our sustained focus on semiconductor manufacturers’ needs highlights our concern both for our customers’ return on investment and for their ability to meet their time-to-market requirements in producing the broad range of devices vital to our technology-driven world . We are pleased to have these efforts validated once again and acknowledged via the prestigious VLSIresearch Customer Satisfaction Survey.”
