The game will be the first in the Halo series not to have been created by Bungie Studios. After the developer and Microsoft parted ways in 2007, Microsoft created 343 Industries, which will be behind Halo 4.

The Halo games can only be played on Xbox consoles. Microsoft has sold more than 40 million games in the franchise since its creation.
