U.S. Retail Sales in March Rise 0.8%

NEW YORK ( TheStreet) -- The Commerce Department said U.S. retail sales in the U.S. rose 0.8% in March. Excluding automotive, sales also rose 0.8%.

Economists forecast a 0.3% percent increase in March sales; retail sales rose 1.1% in February.

Excluding autos, sales were seen rising in March by 0.6%.
