Ford's March Sales Rise 5%

NEW YORK ( TheStreet) -- Ford ( F) sold 223,418 cars in the U.S. in March, up 5% from last year.

It was the automaker's best March since 2007.

The Ford Fusion had its best monthly sales in March at 28,562 cars sold, up 3.6% from last year. Sales of the Ford Focus rose 64.7% to 28,293.

Broken down by brand, Ford had 214,615 sales in March and Lincoln had 8,803.

Shares of Ford rose 2.14% in early trading Tuesday to $12.89. The stock has risen 19.89% year to date.
