NEW YORK ( TheStreet) -- Restore Our Future, the super PAC supporting Mitt Romney, dropped $100,000 on Saturday to oppose Rick Santorum. The $100,000 Internet ad buy went to Arena Communications, which had been the recipient of three previous advertising buys in Wisconsin worth $177,096, according to information reported by opensecrets.org and ProPublica.
The super PAC's spending in
Wisconsin could highlight the importance the Romney and Santorum campaigns have pinned on the large Midwestern state in the Republican primary battle. " We've got a great team in Wisconsin too, but Wisconsin's going to be potentially a winner-take-all state," a Santorum campaign source said last week in an interview. "That's where we're going to put a lot of our resources." So far, Restore Our Future has spent $1.4 million in Wisconsin to oppose Santorum, according to ProPublica, as Red, White and Blue Fund, which backs Santorum, hasn't spent any money yet. Winning Our Future, the super PAC behind Newt Gingrich, spent $11,957 in support of its candidate in Wisconsin back on March 1 when it made a glut of national radio advertising buys in various states ahead of Super Tuesday. -- Written by Joe Deaux in New York. >Contact by Email. >Follow Joe Deaux on Twitter.
