Republican Super PACs Spend Another $2.4 Million

NEW YORK ( TheStreet) -- Super PACs continue to do one thing really well: Spend large quantities of money.

After the March 13 Republican primary contests in Alabama, Mississippi and Hawaii, the four major super PACs supporting the remaining GOP presidential hopefuls spent about $2.4 million, according to opensecrets.com.

Restore Our Future, which backs Mitt Romney, disbursed the most money between March 14 and Thursday, a grand total of $1.9 million.

The super PAC made a massive $501,769 media buy on March 15 to oppose Santorum, likely in Illinois before the primary there, as well as another gigantic media buy on March 20 of $730,001.

Red, White and Blue Fund supporting Santorum spent $464,539 from March 15 through March 20.

Santorum's super PAC made one of its biggest expenditures on March 15 with a $310,000 television ad buy to support the former Pennsylvania senator. The super PAC placed another $128,400 television ad buy supporting the former senator on March 20, the day of the Illinois primary that Santorum lost by 12 percentage points.

Ron Paul's Endorse Liberty super PAC spent $12,452 for online advertising buys on Google ( GOOG), Facebook and StumbleUpon.

Winning Our Future, the super PAC supporting Newt Gingrich, has not spent any money since the March 13 primaries.
