NEW YORK ( TheStreet) -- U.S. stocks were falling midday Thursday as more signs pointed to an economic slowdown in Europe and China. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 78.93 points to 13,045.69. Leading the Dow lower were Caterpillar ( CAT), Alcoa ( AA) and Boeing ( BA).
Shares of Boeing fell 1.8% to $73.66. The aviation company announced Thursday that it signed a memorandum of understanding with fellow aircraft makers Airbus and Embraer to work on affordable biofuels. TheStreet Ratings gives Boeing a B grade with a buy rating and a $88.02 price target. Caterpillar shares declined 2.24% to $106.56. The construction company gets an A grade with a buy rating and a $131.03 price target. Caterpillar is expanding production in China. It has 17 facilities in China with nine more under construction. Shares of Alcoa fell 2.29% to $10.03.
