Tim Tebow Goes to the New York Jets: Report

NEW YORK ( TheStreet) -- Tim Tebow could soon learn it's not easy being green.

The 2011 Denver Broncos starting quarterback is set to head to the embattled New York Jets in exchange for a fourth-round pick, according to ESPN.com, and will likely have to play as a backup.

Tebow would likely begin the 2012 season behind current Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez, but could force the hand of head coach Rex Ryan if Sanchez continues his inconsistent performances.

The Jets, a 2011 early-season favorite, struggled late in the season as the team finished on a three-game losing streak to miss the playoffs.

Tebow still has three years on his contract with a 2012 base salary of $1.1 million, according to ESPN.
