BMC Software (NASDAQ: BMC), the recognized leader in Business Service Management (BSM), today announced that it is positioned by Gartner in the Leaders Quadrant of the 2012 “Magic Quadrant for Workload Automation,” authored by Milind Govekar, Biswajeet Mahapatra and published in February 2012.

According to Gartner, the report positions vendors in one of four quadrants - Leaders, Challengers, Visionaries and Niche Players - based on the companies' vision and ability to execute on that vision. Vendors in the Leaders Quadrant, as stated in the report, “combine insightful understanding of the realities of the market, the ability to influence the market's direction, the ability to attract an industry following and the capacity to lead the market. Leaders have the proven ability to deliver on their vision and to support their customers through periods of stability, as well as periods of change or economic hardship. The leaders control most of the market's business activities and are the primary influencers of market evolution.”

“Managing and scheduling workloads across the University of Arizona’s mainframe and distributed environments had previously been a complex process involving numerous staff,” said Derek Masseth, senior director of infrastructure services, University of Arizona. “With BMC Control-M Workload Automation, we can now easily see all of the successes and threats out there from a single portal and have dramatically improved efficiency across IT.”

“Colruyt Group is able to keep the shelves stocked throughout all of their stores from a single distribution center with the automation capabilities provided by BMC Control-M,” said Frank Waegeman, IT manager, Colruyt Group. “Using this solution, we can easily see which products need to be replenished on a store-by-store basis and we can minimize our transportation costs by ensuring our delivery trucks remain full. As a long established customer, we find BMC Control-M to be key to our success.”

“We believe BMC’s position in the Leaders Quadrant clearly illustrates our success in evolving our solutions to support our customer’s business needs across the enterprise,” said Bill Miller, president of BMC’s Mainframe Service Management business unit. "We attribute the recognition to our leadership in areas such as self-service, integration of automation tools, and wide support for applications across virtual, cloud, mainframe and distributed environments. BMC Control-M is the go-to solution for IT teams looking to better manage scheduled workloads, reduce cost and plan for future growth.”
