Jobless Claims Flat at 351,000: Economy Alert

NEW YORK ( TheStreet) -- The Labor Department said Thursday jobless claims for the week ended Feb. 25 were 351,000, flat with the previous week.

Economists surveyed by Reuters forecast 351,000 new filings for jobless benefits.

Personal income in January rose 0.3%, while spending rose 0.2%, according to the Commerce Department.

Economists expected personal income to rise 0.4% in January, adding to a 0.5% increase in December. Personal consumption was forecast to rise 0.3%; spending stayed put in December.
