Radisys® Corporation (NASDAQ: RSYS), a leading provider of embedded wireless infrastructure solutions, and Minieum Networks, an equipment provider for next generation wireless base stations, today announced that Minieum has selected Radisys’ industry-leading Trillium® protocol software for its dual-mode enterprise and residential small cell solutions, combining 3G and Wi-Fi services in one unit. Operators are increasingly required to deliver both Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity to the home and business environments. Minieum’s dual-mode small cells function as a 3G small cell base station and Wi-Fi device in a single unit, allowing operators to reduce their CAPEX and OPEX while also simplifying service infrastructure. Radisys’ Trillium small cell solution supports telecom equipment manufacturers (TEMs), like Minieum, in delivering these innovative devices. The Trillium protocol software provides TEMs a complete small cell software implementation that is deployable off-the-shelf. Using this hardened and field-tested solution, TEMs are able to focus their efforts on developing unique applications, such as dual-mode applications, rather than spending valuable time on software design. “We selected Radisys for its track record in delivering a complete, high-quality small cell software solution. Radisys’ protocol software enabled record time-to-market for both Minieum’s epRAN enterprise femtocell and apRAN access point small cells, which have completed interoperability testing with mobile operators in Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia. The epRAN femtocell is a 3G WCDMA small cell base station, designed to be compatible with all IP-based technologies for use in small to medium sized office spaces or in-building environments. The apRAN femtocell is a 3G access point/small cell base station for use in residential, small office or home office environments. “Radisys’ complete software implementation not only speeds up time-to-market for our customers, but it also provides unmatched flexibility.
