Valentine's Cocktails You'll Fall in Love With

LAS VEGAS ( MainStreet) -- As Valentine's Day approaches and thoughts turn to roses, chocolates and romantic rendezvous, TravelsinTaste has searched the continent for the perfect complement to a romantic escapade in a lively city: the sexy cocktail. Here are some of the more romantic libations we found for your holiday pleasure.

Venture outside the box with a floral arrangement that won't fail to impress your date. Created at Sage, helmed by Shawn McClain in Las Vegas' Aria Resort & Casino, the Tea Rose cocktail features a fragrant mix of rosewater and St. Germain elderflower liqueur balanced with the earthiness of tea-infused vodka and pine nuts and brightened by an acidic splash of lemon.

Meanwhile, the heat gets turned up at Bellagio's uber-popular nightclub Hyde Bellagio, which has an organically crafted signature "Love Unit" cocktail made with Stoli vanilla vodka, freshly pressed lime, grapefruit and red bell pepper juice. Garnished with a red bell pepper slice and a Thai basil leaf that is "spanked" by one of Hyde's sexy bartenders, this red-hot libation is sure to fire up guests' taste buds.
The red-hot Love Unit cocktail is available on Valentine's Day at Hyde Bellagio in Las Vegas.

For another take on the chocolate-covered strawberry, try Tender Steak & Seafood at the Luxor. The Chocolate Covered Strawberry Martini comes complete with vanilla vodka, Godiva white chocolate and strawberry puree garnished with floating Godiva chocolate shavings. A chocolate strawberry lover's dream!

For pure decadence the bars, lounges and select restaurants at The Mirage are the place to be. Peter Brattander, director of beverages there, has created the My Sweetheart for starters: "When I think of romance I think of an intimate dinner for two. What better way to end a good meal than sharing this extraordinary blend of strawberries and coffee flavors with your sweetheart, as I do with mine?" he explains.

For something more provocative, try his French Kiss. "Cherries and Champagne make a beautiful partnership, and it's a great icebreaker on a blind date. People usually think of combining strawberries and champagne but forget about the wonderful flavors of cherries," he says.

For a drink that is true to its name, try the Surprise and Delight. "Chocolate being an aphrodisiac, with added flavors of vanilla and a touch of cream this creates a delightful pleasure upon consumption. This is truly a cocktail that will satisfy all your senses with a little surprise," he says.

For something a little more familiar, you can toast your Valentine with the Bella-Tini, a bellini-inspired cocktail with Belvedere vodka, peach puree and Mas Fi Cava sparkling wine at Fleming's Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar. Or spice it up with SushiSamba's Valentine's Day cocktail made with pisco, Domaine de Canton, fresh pineapple and freshly muddled raspberry.

Is your sweetheart an angel in Arizona? If so, the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess is celebrating with the Valentines Angel Chocotini made with vanilla Swedka Vodka, Godiva white chocolate liqueur, white chocolate and vanilla brittle. At the luxury hotel, resort and spa L'Auberge de Sedona the specialty is the Chocolate Covered Raspberry, made of Himbergiest Raspberry Brandy, Framboise, raspberry and chocolate liquor and vanilla vodka.

Vanderbilt Grace, an upscale boutique property in Newport, R.I., is serving a variety of cocktails, including the Romeo & Juliet -- gin, lime juice, rose water, cucumber and mint. The Be Mine Mojito with rum, crushed raspberries, mint and soda; and the Cupid's Kiss with Bailey's Irish Cream liqueur, creme de cacao and amaretto, topped off with a chocolate Hershey's Kiss. Elvis would be proud of the Love Me Tender, made of strawberry puree, grenadine and Champagne.

Modern boutique hotel Opus Montreal is looking to bring sexy back with an all aphrodisiac menu, including sensual ingredients such as freshly shucked oysters with Canadian sturgeon caviar. Top it off with two watermelon-based cocktails: the Valentine's Fizz with gin and sweet 'n sour and the Pinky Smash with Cazadores Blanco.

If it's wine you desire but are a little unsure of how to choose, Corkbuzz Wine Studio in New York will host a class on choosing wine for a date. In this class, owner and master sommelier Laura Maniec will discuss how to navigate a wine list, general pairing techniques and ordering for others.

Single? Does the phrase "Love on the Rocks" sum up your Valentine's Day plans this year? Then head over to Minus5 Ice Bar inside the Monte Carlo Resort & Casino on Friday to experience a chilled-out Ice Dating singles night. Guests are invited to mingle and raise their spirits (and maybe their heartbeat) Vegas style.

Determined to stay single? Holsteins Shakes & Buns at The Cosmopolitan will be celebrating "Anti Valentine's Day." Celebrate a "single" relationship status with appropriately themed cocktails, only offered on Valentine's Day. The shot and cocktail combo will be a sweet ending to the night.

Enjoy a happy Valentine's Day any way you wish to celebrate this one of the greatest of holidays!
