NEW YORK ( TheStreet) -- Michael Kors ( KORS) popped 25% at the open on its first day trading on the New York Stock Exchange.

The high-end fashion brand raised $944 million in its initial public offering, pricing 47.2 million shares at $20 apiece. The IPO was originally expected to price between $17 and $19 a share.

Shares of Michael Kors, which sells apparel and accessories, opened this morning at $25.

The stock will trade on the NYSE under the ticker KORS.
