Tech Data Canada, a leading distributor of IT products, logistics management and other value added services today announced that its president, Rick Reid, has been named one of top 25 Newsmakers of 2011 in the Canadian IT channel by CDN (Computer Dealer News).

Some of the reasons cited by CDN for Rick Reid’s inclusion include:

a) Tech Data’s commitment to Redefining Value Added Distribution with the launch of the Technology Services Division and expansion of its one-of-a-kind Advanced Technology Solutions Centre (ATSC) in April.

b) Distribution agreements with more specialized vendors such as Ruckus Wireless, Fusion-io, ShoreTel Networks, Arbor Networks, Fujitsu Servers and Elfiq Networks to give resellers a wider breadth of options.

c) Tech Data’s leadership and optimism regarding the channel’s role in federal government IT spending.

CDN also stated, “Tech Data Canada had a busy year and it should be no surprise that its president Rick Reid has landed on our newsmakers list once again.”

“It is an honour to be recognized for the ongoing success of Tech Data Canada,” said Reid. “Our entire organization has been completely committed to expanding upon our core logistical competencies by delivering unprecedented value in the channel through our extended service offering and technical expertise. Watch for even bigger things to come from us in 2012.”

The Top 25 Newsmakers were selected via an online poll by readers of CDN and represents the people’s choice in the channel. Rick Reid placed at number 14.
