Again, no typo there. You can get a business-ready, if a bit long in the tooth, iPhone for nada if you lock into a two-year deal from AT&T ( T - Get Report). Don't let the 4S snobs intimidate you. There is a lot for a business to like with the lower-end 3 GS. The unit is iOS 5 ready, supports Apple's flawed but decent iCloud content service and comes with a video camera capable of reasonable group collaboration. Sure, it won't perform like top-end iPhones, and those who love heavy multitasking or stuff like Siri the talking assistant will be disappointed. But if you run an Apple shop and you struggle to stay in touch with young employees -- and who doesn't? -- this is the deal to get. Considering no kid I know has ever turned down an iPhone, the free 3 GS might be the intern management tool of the century.
Though Apple has been offering its reasonably priced add-on keyboard and camera adapter for the iPad for some time, the slow but steady improvements in the Apple tablet now make these two tools a powerful business productivity play. For basically $110 you get a legitimately work-ready keyboard for your iPad and the means to display your sales pitches on not only your tablet, but a TV, video projection system or any HDMI-enabled device. Sure, if you are doing heavy mobile apps in your shop, these tools won't magically turn the iPad into a true laptop. But have these handy and you'll see that the iPad become quite the mobile sales secret weapon.
While a high-tech tablet might seem boring to the average Mac user, this Magic Trackpad is a heck of peripheral buy. It allows for iPhone-like touch gesture control of your computer. Keep in mind, most Mac software is not set up to be touch controlled, so some tasks, such as movie editing or complex design work, will not be TrackPad ready. It can be like working with casts on your hands. But for average business computing, my take is this tool offers a great way to save your tendons during the work day.
