NEW YORK ( Trefis) -- SAP ( SAP) has launched a cloud-based version of its BusinessObjects business intelligence offering. SAP BI OnDemand will be powered by SAP's HANA in-memory computing platform, offering enterprises a high performance data analysis of huge amounts of data in real time. SAP competes primarily with Oracle ( ORCL), IBM ( IBM) and Microsoft ( MSFT) in enterprise software. SAP currently has a 24% share in the global business intelligence software market. We expect it to capture more than 26% of the market by the end of our forecast period. Business intelligence software is an important driver for SAP's stock price, accounting for more than 12% of SAP's $62 Trefis price estimate, which stands nearly 5% above its current market price. With the cloud computing market exploding in size, all major enterprise software makers have jumped on the bandwagon, launching cloud-based versions of their enterprise offerings. SAP recently partnered with HP to make its applications available to customers on HP's cloud infrastructure. The new BI On Demand offering allows customers to analyze data from multiple sources, including other on-demand offerings, in real time with high performance, thanks to the HANA platform. It can be set up quickly with no implementation, deployment or maintenance costs, unlike traditional offerings. The cloud services market is expected to be worth $150 billion by 2014. If SAP is able to capture a significant portion of that market, it could mean a huge upside to its current stock price.
