Here are the average retail gas prices in the Twin Cities, according to

  • Average price on Oct. 31: $3.50
  • A week ago: $3.43
  • A month ago: $3.40
  • A year ago: $2.78
  • National average price on Oct. 31: $3.46
  • Lowest price in the Twin Cities, Oct. 31: $3.29 (Shakopee, Eagan, Burnsville, Eden Prairie)
  • Highest price in the Twin Cities, Oct. 31, $3.69 (South St. Paul)

"With some European resolve in regards to the Greece debt situation, oil prices took off late last week," Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst, said in a news release. "While the national average has remained relatively subdued in the last couple weeks, we may see a slow climb in the national average this week.

"As we approach heating oil season, we'll also see support for diesel prices, which is sure to frustrate diesel consumers, who are paying as much as 80 cents more per gallon than gasoline consumers."
