Wisconsin Energy Corp. said its third quarter net income was $129.8 million, or 55 cents per share, compared with $112.2 million, or 47 cents per share, a year earlier.

The per-share earnings exceeded analystsâ¿¿ estimates of 48 cents.

Third-quarter revenue for the Milwaukee-based public utility (NYSE: WEC) was $1.05 billion compared with $973.2 million in the third quarter of 2010.

For the first nine months of 2011, Wisconsin Energy said its net income was $410.2 million, or $1.76 per share, compared with $330.6 million, or $1.40 a year earlier. Revenue for the nine-month period was $3.37 billion compared with $3.11 billion in the same period of 2010.

Wisconsin Energy executives said a major factor contributing to this yearâ¿¿s third quarter performance was income from the companyâ¿¿s Power the Future plan that included major new power-generation projects in Oak Creek.
