Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, one of San Franciscoâ¿¿s largest law firms, is expanding in the Middle East.

The law firm said it is opening a location in Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates.

Pillsbury represents a number of Middle East entities, including Emirates Nuclear Energy Corp., which Pillsbury is advising on a $20 billion project to build four nuclear power plants in the UAE, and Qatar Petroleum, affiliates of which the firm represents in liquefied natural gas projects in the United Kingdom and the United States.

The office will open with five lawyers, including litigation partner David Cynamon and nuclear energy partners Charles Peterson and James Glasgow. All are moving from Pillsbury Winthropâ¿¿s Washington D.C. office.

Most of Pillsbury Winthropâ¿¿s 700 lawyers are based in the United States. But the firm also has foreign offices in London, Shanghai and Tokyo.
