KB Home and Build San Antonio Green (BSAG) have formed a partnership to build energy-efficiency homes in San Antonio.

Beginning Dec. 1, all homes built by KB Home in San Antonio will be BSAG certified. These homes are at least 15 percent more energy efficient than standard municipal code requirements. BSAGâ¿¿s certification requirements include energy and water efficiency and indoor air quality.

The national homebuilder and the nonprofit organization also rolled out KB Homeâ¿¿s first net-zero energy home, dubbed ZeroHouse 2.0, in San Antonio.

Homebuyers who incorporate the ZeroHouse 2.0 design into their house may be able to eliminate monthly electricity charges entirely. These houses have increased insulation, upgraded HVAC systems and dual-plane windows. Solar panels are also built on the roof.

Los Angeles-based KB Home (NYSE: KBH) is one of the nationâ¿¿s largest homebuilders. Build San Antonio Green is San Antonioâ¿¿s residential green-building program. The nonprofit organization works to promote sustainable building practices and identify efficient building methods, materials and technologies.
