UGI Energy Services Inc. said after the markets closed Thursday that it plans to spend $150 million to extend a system for gathering natural gas from producersâ¿¿ wells in the Marcellus Shale region of Pennsylvania.

The Wyomissing, Pa., subsidiary of Valley Forge, Pa.-based UGI Corp. (NYSE:UGI) will extend its Auburn Gathering System 30 miles from the systemâ¿¿s current end point in Wyoming County, Pa., to Luzerne County, Pa.

UGI plans to connect the extension to the Transcontinental Gas Pipeline and expects to have it in service in the summer of 2013.
