NEW YORK ( TheStreet) -- Apple's ( AAPL) third-quarter miss could impact electronics retailers.

Apple noted in its report Tuesday evening that there was a pause in iPhone sales, as consumers awaited the new iPhone release. This delayed purchases in the September quarter, but it seems the fourth-quarter started strong with reportedly about 4 million new units sold.

iPad shipments also fell short of expectations, but still grew more than 160%.

For Best Buy ( BBY), Apple's comments shouldn't come as a surprise, Goldman Sachs analyst Matthew Fassler wrote in a note.

Best Buy's August quarter already saw a 5% decline in wireless, and Apple's comments don't change Fassler's same-store sales outlook of a 5.6% increase.

But RadioShack's ( RSH) third quarter now becomes a bit blurry.

"Apple's iPhone comments suggest that this should be another weak quarter for RadioShack wireless, compounding the issue of transition from T-Mobile to Verizon as the store's third carrier," Fassler wrote.

But Fassler believes the iPhone 4S will provide a boost for both RadioShack and Best Buy in the fourth quarter.
