NEW YORK ( TheStreet) -- Apple ( AAPL) is planning a memorial service Sunday for recently deceased co-founder Steve Jobs, according to a published media report.

The service will be held at Stanford University on Sunday evening, according to the report, which was published on The Wall Street Journal's Web site and cited a copy of the invitation to the event as well as several invitees.

The invitees said some of the biggest names in Silicon Valley would attend the service, along with other people who were close to Jobs, the report said. An Apple representative described the event as private, the report added.
