The Consumer Energy Alliance and the city of Houston have scheduled the first annual Energy Day festival to celebrate Houston as the energy capital of the world on Saturday, Oct. 15.

Energy Day 2011 will feature more than 80 business and academic leaders, representing expertise in a variety of industry sectors, including renewable and energy-efficient technology, manufacturing and oil and gas production. Award-winning student science projects and interactive learning opportunities will be on display, along with dozens of booths demonstrating cutting-edge energy-related technology. Students will be eligible to earn scholarships as part of the Energy Day Academic Awards Program.

The event being held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Hermann Square, is free to the public.
