Granite Construction Picks EIQ Energy For New Solar System

EIQ Energy Inc. said Friday it was picked by Granite Construction Inc. for its energy-saving technology to benefit Granite's new 1.2 megawatt solar system in Coalinga, Calif.

The solar system includes eIQ Energy's vBoost DC Parallel System and is expected to be the largest solar electric generating system to use distributed power electronics.

The installation is predicted to offset as much as 50 percent of the Granite (NYSE:GVA) facility's total energy requirements. San Jose-based eIQ Energy specializes in power management technology.

Watsonville-based Granite is a diversified heavy civil contractor and construction materials producer. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
