Solyndra Inc. has asked a bankruptcy court to allow it to hire a bankruptcy expert following the departure of CEO Brian Harrison, who left the company on Oct. 7, according to a court filing.

Reuters reports Solyndra wants to appoint Todd Neilson of Berkeley Research Group LLC as its chief restructuring officer.

Neilson is a former FBI agent and served as a bankruptcy trustee for former world boxing champion Mike Tyson and others.

Former CEO Harrison last month refused to answer questions from lawmakers in Congress over the solar company's bankruptcy.

In the Business Weekly's print edition out Oct. 14, Senior Reporter Kevin Robinson-Avila writes that the same market forces that pushed Solyndra into bankruptcy in August have now derailed plans by Noribachi LLC to build a solar plant in Albuquerque.
