AMSTERDAM ( TheStreet) -- ASML ( ASML), the Dutch maker of semiconductor equipment, said third-quarter profit rose 32% and it expects record 2011 sales of €5.5 billion ($7.59 billion).

ASML earned €355.2 million in the third quarter, up from €268.5 million a year earlier. Sales were €1.46 billion, up from €1.18 billion.

The company said fourth-quarter bookings are expected at a level higher than the third-quarter's €514 million.

ASML CEO Eric Meurice, in a press statement Wednesday, said it's "too early to understand how overall demand for semiconductors will contribute to our business in 2012."

Some of ASML's biggest customers are Intel ( INTC) and Samsung.
