Southern Nuclear Names New Chief Nuclear Officer

Southern Nuclear has named Danny G. Bost its new chief nuclear officer, according to a press release.

Bost will be responsible for the performance of the Southern Co. (NYSE: SO) subsidiary's six operating plants.

He comes to Southern Nuclear from serving as a Nuclear Safety Review Board (NSRB) consultant where he conducted nuclear safety reviews at facilities operated by Detroit Edison, Exelon Corp. (NYSE: EXC) and First Energy since 2008.

Bost will replace Jeff Gasser who has held the position at the Birmingham-based subsidiary since 2004.

Gasser will report to the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) as a loaned executive.
