Ford Will Include San Antonio In Electric Car Tour

Ford Motor Co. will come through San Antonio as part of its Power of Choice Vehicle and Technology Tour to display the companyâ¿¿s new line of electric vehicles.

Also taking part in the Ford-sponsored event will be the Texas Sustainable Energy Research Institute at the University of Texas at San Antonio, the San Antonio Clean Energy Incubator, the Alamo Area Clean Cities Coalition, CPS Energy and Southwest Research Institute. The Power of Choice event will begin Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 8:45 a.m. at the UTSA Downtown Campus.

Clean-energy experts from the organizations will be speaking about commitments to cleaner vehicles and clean energy. CPS Energy officials will also provide an update on their efforts to invest in electric charging infrastructure in San Antonio.

Ford will also offer a preview of the Focus Electric â¿¿ the companyâ¿¿s first zero-emission, all-electric passenger car. Ford plans to bring the vehicle to market in late 2011. The automaker will also display the Transit Connect Electric van, the Ford Fiesta, an Explorer with an EcoBoost engine, and the Fusion Hybrid.
