Tigers to Face Rangers in ALCS After Beating Yankees

NEW YORK ( TheStreet) -- The Detroit Tigers beat the New York Yankees, 3-2, in game 5 of the American League Division Series and move on to play the Texas Rangers.

The AL Championship Series begins Saturday night in Texas. Tigers ace Justin Verlander is scheduled to start the ALCS opener against the Rangers' C.J. Wilson.

It's the Tigers first trip to the ALCS since 2006.

"The Yankees are so good that I would be lying if I said it didn't give me a little extra satisfaction to be able to do it here in the fifth game," Tigers Coach Jim Leyland said. "This will be a game I'll remember for the rest of my life."
