Intel Corp (INTC): Today's Featured Electronics Winner

Intel rose 58 cents (2.7%) to $21.80 on average volume. Throughout the day, 64 million shares of Intel exchanged hands as compared to its average daily volume of 62.1 million shares.

Intel Corporation engages in the design, manufacture, and sale of integrated circuits for computing and communications industries worldwide. Intel has a market cap of $108.3 billion and is part of the technology sector. The company has a P/E ratio of 9.5, equal to the average electronics industry P/E ratio and below the S&P 500 P/E ratio of 17.7. Shares are up 0.9% year to date as of the close of trading on Tuesday.

TheStreet Ratings rates Intel as a buy. The company's strengths can be seen in multiple areas, such as its robust revenue growth, largely solid financial position with reasonable debt levels by most measures, notable return on equity, attractive valuation levels and growth in earnings per share. Although no company is perfect, currently we do not see any significant weaknesses which are likely to detract from the generally positive outlook.

On the negative front, Tegal Corporation ( TGAL), API Technologies ( ATNY), LightPath Technologies Inc ( LPTH), and MaxLinear Inc ( MXL) were all losers within the electronics industry with Intersil Corporation ( ISIL) being today's electronics industry Loser Spotlight stock.

For investors not wanting singular stock exposure, ETFs may be of interest. Investors who are bullish on the electronics industry could consider iShares Dow Jones US Technology ( IYW) while those bearish on the electronics industry could consider ProShares Ultra Short Semiconductor ( SSG).
