NEW YORK ( Trefis) -- Netflix ( NFLX) has gained exclusive rights to Norwegian-produced TV show Lilyhammer, to supplement its exclusive programming lineup that began with House of Cards earlier this year.

Netflix is trying to differentiate itself from other competitors like Amazon ( AMZN) and Dish Network's ( DISH) Blockbuster and send a positive message to its subscribers and investors who have been unhappy about Netflix's recent actions of splitting DVD business and raising prices. Additionally, the loss of the Starz contract is another compelling reason that the company needs to strike several deals in near future to restore the faith of subscribers and investors.

However, it must be noted that media companies are less likely to grant such exclusive deals and instead will focus on spreading non-exclusive content across different distribution services. Netflix should aggressively pursue this content and build upon its lead before its competitors catch up.

Our price estimate for Netflix stands at $195, implying about 70% premium to the market price.
