CUPERTINO, Calif. ( TheStreet) -- Apple's ( AAPL) hotly anticipated iPhone event on Tuesday has been slammed by many of the tech giant's zealots, who wanted to see new hardware in the shape of an iPhone 5.

Instead, Apple introduced the new iPhone 4S. A souped-up version of the iPhone 4, the iPhone 4S is faster than its predecessor thanks to its dual-core A5 chip. Containing both GSM and CDMA antennas, the iPhone 4S can also run on both U.S. and European networks.
