NEW YORK ( TheStreet) -- The United Auto Workers called local union plant officials to Detroit late Sunday night for a meeting Tuesday in anticipation of reaching an agreement with Ford ( F) on a new four-year contact, a report said. Michele Martin, UAW spokeswoman, told Reuters the union "hopes" it will have an agreement to present to local union leaders at the Tuesday meeting. UAW and Ford negotiators met on Sunday for a seventh straight day. Martin told Reuters that union plant leaders were called on Sunday to give them time to travel to Detroit in time for the Tuesday meeting. However, she didn't guarantee that a deal would be in hand that day. Workers at General Motors ( GM) approved last week a new four-year contract by a two-to-one majority. Talks between the UAW and Chrysler have stalled. -- Written by Joseph Woelfel >To contact the writer of this article, click here: Joseph Woelfel >To submit a news tip, send an email to: email@example.com.
