Today, in New York, Planar Systems, Inc., (NASDAQ:PLNR) a world leader in specialty display solutions, announced their support for BOFFO Building Fashion. Working with creative director and global fashion visionary Nicola Formichetti, in partnership with Gage/Clemenceau Architects in New York, on a thought-leading retail installation featuring a variety of Planar display products. This partnership was envisioned by BOFFO, as part of their annual BOFFO Building Fashion exhibition. The retail concept showroom and event space is located at Karkula’s 50 Walker Street in Tribeca. It explores the intersection of architecture and fashion by pairing fashion designers and architects to build temporary installations. The opening date of the two-month running fashion concept series is September 8, 2011, with press previews invitation only opening events. Creative director of the French fashion house Mugler, Nicola Formichetti, was selected as the first in the series and paired with Gage/Clemenceau Architects to create Formichetti’s new retail and display environment. From the beginning, Planar worked with these visionary designers to utilize cutting-edge display technology in their designs. The environment will house the new work of Formichetti, as well as some of his previous projects. “We’re thrilled to be working with Planar on this project where the synthesis of architecture and fashion is further enhanced by the use of their advanced digital display technologies,” said Marc Clemenceau Bailly, partner at Gage/Clemenceau Architects. The installation features several unique Planar products including the line of bezel-free, open-frame monitors used in architectural applications and embedded applications, like kiosks and large format LCD displays designed to complement any retail shop, education environment, public space, hotel or restaurant. These displays work seamlessly into the design that was envisioned for the space. Planar’s participation in New York’s fashion week, builds on the initiative announced earlier this year to serve the specification needs of the Architecture and Design (A&D) industry, with Planar’s growing lineup of high-performance, easy-to-service displays for digital applications. The initiative includes innovative exhibitions and communications to the A&D community, as well as new online tools, customized website at PlanarDigitalSignage.com, and creative partnerships, such as the featured campaign with BOFFO in New York and collaborations with architects such as Juergen Mayer H., Messana O'Rorke, Joel Sanders Architect, and more. BOFFO is a non-profit arts and culture organization based in New York City with a mission to educate and inform the public through innovative exhibitions and events while providing exposure for artists and designers.
