LONDON ( TheStreet) -- AstraZeneca ( AZN) said Wednesday it agreed to sell its Astra Tech dental business to Dentsply ( XRAY) for about $1.8 billion in cash.

Astra Tech, based in Moelndal, Sweden, had revenue of about $535 million in 2010. It has two divisions -- a dental division which makes dental implants, and a health care division that makes medical devices for urology and surgery.

The deal is expected to be completed during the second half of 2011.

Dentsply said it expects the acquisition to be immediately accretive to earnings and raises its revenue by 25%.
