NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Arch Coal (ACI) was falling 2.3% to $33.50 in premarket trading Monday following the announcement that it will buy International Coal Group (ICO) for $3.4 billion. International Coal shares were surging 31% to $14.45.


Pay-TV provider Dish Network ( DISH - Get Report) and digital set-top box provider EchoStar ( SATS - Get Report) have agreed to pay TiVo ( TIVO - Get Report) $500 million to settle patent litigation. TiVo was surging 16.5% to $11.15.

Dish Network shares were popping 7.9% to $27.01 after reporting first-quarter profit that more than doubled, beating Wall Street's expectations.


Drug company Teva ( TEVA - Get Report) was rising 3.1% to $47.15 in premarket trading Monday after announcing it would acquire drug company Cephalon ( CEPH) for $6.8 billion. Cephalon shares were spiking 5.9% to $81.56.


Health insurer Humana ( HUM - Get Report) was rising 0.9% to $76.79 after reporting first-quarter profit of $1.86 a share, which was positively impacted by 31 cents a share due to earlier medical claims. The Wall Street consensus called for profit of $1.36 a share.


Chesapeake Energy ( CHK - Get Report) was rising 0.4% to $33.79 ahead of its first-quarter earnings report. Analysts, on average, expect the company to post profit of 70 cents a share after the markets close.


Speaking at his company's annual meeting Saturday, Berkshire Hathaway ( BRK.A - Get Report) ( BRK.B - Get Report) Chairman and CEO Warren Buffett said former lieutenant David Sokol clearly violated Berkshire's ethical standards.

Berkshire Hathaway also reported preliminary first-quarter earnings of $1.51 billion, down from $3.63 billion in the same quarter last year.


Anadarko Petroleum ( APC - Get Report) is expected to report first-quarter profit of 58 cents a share after the markets close Monday.


Global machinery maker Terex ( TEX - Get Report) announced that its German subsidiary, Terex Industrial Holding, has decided to make a public tender offer for German industrial cranes supplier Demag Cranes at €884 million ($1.31 billion).
