Kaplan EduNeering, a pioneer in online learning and provider of compliance and knowledge management solutions, and AdvaMed, the world’s largest medical technology trade association, announced the extension and expansion of their partnership through 2014. Since 2008, AdvaMed and Kaplan EduNeering have worked together to develop online compliance management and training programs for medical technology professionals. As the global regulatory climate grows in complexity and FDA increases its enforcement of safety standards, the need for training medical technology professionals escalates.

The expanded AdvaMed/Kaplan Learning Program will leverage Kaplan EduNeering’s FDA-validated learning management system and online libraries, which cover key topics including Medical Device Sales, Manufacturing, Hospital Certification, Clinical Trial Operations, FCPA, Global Anti-bribery, Privacy, and Ethics. The AdvaMed/Kaplan Learning Program contains 60 courses co-developed by FDA and/or AdvaMed and Kaplan EduNeering. These programs are available to companies and individual medical technology industry professionals.

“The new FDA administration has signaled the medical technology industry that it intends to increase its inspection and enforcement activities. That has already been demonstrated by the increase in FDA warning letters and recalls, and there is no indication that the upward trend will not continue. The compliance management and training programs we develop with AdvaMed provides the medical technology community with practical, industry-specific tools that facilitate regulatory compliance. Equally important, the program demonstrates the shared commitment of AdvaMed and the medical technology industry to patient safety and product quality,” said Lisa Clune, President of Kaplan EduNeering.

“A rapidly changing industry like ours needs an educational partner that can help keep it abreast of rapidly changing compliance and knowledge management needs. We are pleased to work with Kaplan EduNeering to offer this important training for our members,” said Stephen J. Ubl, president and CEO of AdvaMed.

Kaplan EduNeering maintains a unique relationship with The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Office of Regulatory Affairs (ORA). Under that partnership, Kaplan EduNeering provides the on-line training content, documentation, and technology-enabled solution for ORA’s virtual university (ORA U). FDA has used ORA U to train and certify more than 35,000 federal, state, local, and a growing number of international investigators. Each year Kaplan EduNeering and FDA collaborate on new technologies and curricula to enhance the ORA U solution. That same solution is available to medical technology companies.
