With Clearvale PaasPort Express, Any Telco Can Rapidly Build a Cloud-Based Business by Marketing Free-But-Upgradeable Enterprise Social Networks

Japan's SOFTBANK TELECOM Announces That it Will Launch a Program to Market Enterprise Social Networks via Clearvale PaasPort Express

BARCELONA, Spain, Feb. 14, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- (Mobile World Congress) BroadVision (Nasdaq:BVSN), the leader in cloud-based social business solutions, today announced the global launch of Clearvale PaasPort Express, a special edition of its innovative platform-as-a-service solution. With this new edition, any telecommunications company can distribute Clearvale Express — a free-but-upgradeable version of BroadVision's flagship enterprise social networking solution — entirely over the cloud, under its company brand. In a related announcement, SOFTBANK TELECOM announced it will launch a program this month to market social networks in Japan using Clearvale PaasPort Express.

The offering – the first of its kind – enables telecommunication companies to rapidly build new businesses in the cloud by providing business customers with social networks which can later be upgraded with more functionality, more capacity and premium services – e.g., email, IM and voice.

"For telcos, it's the fastest path to a cloud-based business," said Dr. Pehong Chen, CEO and founder of BroadVision. "For years, telcos have been looking for a way to provide a unified suite of communication services, and the cloud has emerged as the most viable way to do this. With Clearvale PaasPort Express, telcos can instantly get into the game." Under the brand "White Cloud Clearvale Express," SOFTBANK TELECOM — the telecommunications giant in Japan — will use Clearvale PaasPort Express to provide business customers with a free version of a social network that can later be upgraded to an enterprise edition. The program is part of a larger SoftBank initiative to bring innovative cloud computing solutions to Japanese enterprise customers.
