SEC SERVIZI, a consortium of Italian banks providing operational and technology services to the finance sector, is successfully using BMC Software (NASDAQ: BMC) to manage and control the complex and on-demand IT systems and services used by more than 40 clients and serving more than 4 million banking customers.

In a competitive marketplace, it is critical SEC SERVIZI is able to provide highly automated, yet highly reliable IT services on-demand.

BMC enables SEC SERVIZI’s service delivery with sophisticated and comprehensive offerings that traverse the complete chain of banking processes and deliver SEC SERVIZI customers a competitive and diverse package of services.

Since deploying BMC Software’s ProactiveNet Performance Management and BladeLogic Application Release Automation solutions, SEC SERVIZI can ensure high-quality service and a user experience uninterrupted by unplanned downtime. Additionally, services are delivered in accordance with service level agreements, while accurately and efficiently performing over 29 million transactions each day.

“Over the last three years SEC SERVIZI has installed and implemented a range of tools to measure and control its services and improve the quality of the end user experience,” said Gennaro De Luca, head of ICT Service and Infrastructure at SEC SERVIZI. “BMC Software's ProactiveNet Performance Management has become the linchpin of our infrastructure throughout this change, continually monitoring our distributed systems.”

Since early 2010, the ProactiveNet monitoring agents have been installed locally on every server to track all system metrics. When a dynamic threshold is exceeded, the solution automatically sends an alarm to the central event management system. Meanwhile, the front-end architecture displays real-time control metrics that enable users to extract statistical data on trends over a six-month period.

Additionally, BMC’s BladeLogic Application Release Automation solution has been the glue of the SEC SERVIZI infrastructure, since its deployment in September. The solution ensures full compliance alongside the rapid, error-free release of SEC SERVIZI’s applications.

“Right now the program is in its final stages, but the benefits are already very obvious and clear to see,” De Luca said. “We have instant online control of the whole chain of service delivery operations and infrastructure. We can now detect potential failures that could inhibit customer service before they become apparent, enabling us to intervene before the end user experiences a problem. This is a huge step forward, which has resulted in a dramatic fall in the number of incoming help calls – indeed, we’ve already seen call volumes fall by over 30 percent.”

“SEC SERVIZI has always had a strong culture of innovation and a focus on excellence, and BMC is privileged to be able to support them on their path to success. They realize that by harnessing the combined power of proactive performance monitoring and automation technologies to increase speed and responsiveness, they can be more productive as a business, improving quality of service at the same time as reducing cost,” said Jeremy Duggan, BMC vice president and general manager for EMEA.
