Hawaiian Electric Co., Electrical Workers Continue Talks As Deadline Nears

Hawaiian Electric Co. and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1260 continued negotiations Friday, just three days before a contract extension is due to expire.

A HECO spokesman told PBN that since the unionized employees⿿ three-year contract expired last Oct. 31, they have continued working under an extension that is due to expire Jan. 31. HECO said in a prepared statement that it is ⿿committed to reaching an agreement that is fair to our valued employees and customers.⿝

A representative for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers could not be reached for comment Friday.
