The New Mexico Green Chamber of Commerce has named Allan Oliver as its president and CEO. Oliver is a former New Mexico Cabinet Secretary of Economic Development.

⿿His experience in economic development and his commitment to responsible business practices makes him the perfect person to lead the organization,⿝ John Caskey, chair of the board, said.

The chamber has been incorporated for less than a year and has more than 1,000 members across the state. Members commit to a ⿿Triple Bottom Line⿝ that takes into account people and the environment as well as profit, said chamber officials. The organization advocates for ⿿policies supportive of local business and healthy communities.⿝

Oliver, 41, earned a masterâ¿¿s degree in public administration from Harvard Universityâ¿¿s Kennedy School of Government. While leading the stateâ¿¿s economic development department, he was active in efforts to attract renewable energy companies to the state.

⿿The Green Chamber of Commerce will be an increasingly powerful voice for New Mexico businesses,⿝ Oliver said. ⿿[It] is focused on helping local businesses prosper, supporting an entrepreneurial economy and assisting the growth of the clean energy sector.⿝

Oliver said clean energy jobs have grown by 50 percent over the past decade in New Mexico, and that the chamber will ⿿work to support this major job-creating industry.⿝
