Solar Universe Raises $7 Million

By San Francisco Business Times

In its second round of venture funding, Solar Universe raised $7 million.

RockPort Capital Partners led the round and put Abe Yokell on Solar Universeâ¿¿s board of directors.

Livermore-based Solar Universe is a solar installation and finance business. It sells franchises -- the one in Livermore, for example, is owned by Debbie Puku.

Joe Bono, who started Solar Universe in 2007, is its CEO.

RockPort Capital, based in Boston, has a local office on Sand Hill Road in Menlo Park.

New board member Yokell also works on the board at EcoFactor Inc. in Redwood City and at Newark battery business Qnovo Corp. He moved to the Bay Area from Boston to help RockPort open that Menlo Park office.
