New Mexico Pump Prices Hit $3

Pump prices in New Mexico have reached the $3 per gallon mark for the first time since 2008, according to the AAA New Mexico Weekend Gas Watch. The national average is $3.11.

The least expensive gas among metro areas is in Albuquerque at $2.93 a gallon, while Santa Fe motorists are paying the most at $3.01.

With the increase in retail pump prices, AAA is offering motorists some fuel saving techniques.

â¿¢Drive the speed limit.

â¿¢Avoid 'jackrabbit' starts or sudden acceleration.

â¿¢When approaching a red light or a stop sign, let up on the gas before braking.

â¿¢Comparison shop. Gas prices can vary as much as 10 to 15 cents a gallon in the same area.
