UnitedHealth Sees 2011 Revenue of $100B

MINNEAPOLIS ( TheStreet) -- UnitedHealth ( UNH) earned $1.04 billion, or 94 cents a share, in the fourth quarter on strong revenue growth from both of its business platforms, and said it expects 2011 revenue of about $100 billion.

Revenue in the quarter rose to $24.03 billion from $21.78 billion a year earlier. Full-year revenue rose 8% to $94.2 billion.

Analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters expected the managed care company to earn 84 cents a share on revenue of $23.75 billion in the fourth quarter.

UnitedHealth said it saw strong revenue growth from both its health benefits and health services business platforms.

The company said it anticipates 2011 revenue of about $100 billion, "based on strong customer retention and new growth across its businesses, as well as contributions from recent acquisitions."

UnitedHealth affirmed its outlook for 2011 net earnings of $3.50 to $3.70 a share.
